The warm weather is finally here and with it, the promise of summer. I’m keeping my local honey and apple cider vinegar close by to hold off spring allergies. (I haven’t taken an antihistamine in two years.) I also find myself telling everyone about my “tonic” over and over again, so let me share the recipe:
- Warm up a small cup of water.
- Dissolve a teaspoon of honey in it. It MUST be raw, local honey so that you develop immunity to local pollen.
- Stir in a teaspoon of raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, like Bragg.
- Kampai!
Of course, there’s also acupuncture, which research has shown is effective for conditions such as sinus congestion, rhinitis, and other symptoms associated with allergies. It’s best to begin treatment before the symptoms start so as to prevent their onset, but it’s still effective in reducing the severity of ongoing allergy symptoms.
